A Collage is Born

I decided to take a photo of a recent collage every 2-3 stages of its progress.

Better Neighborhoods, 8 x 8" ©2011 Kim Hambric
I'm loving the fast fun of painting using a credit card.  Mistakes abound and are (mostly) covered up.  Spontaneity rules!!!

This piece is now available in my Etsy shop.

See a short interview with me on the incredible blog Cart Before the Horse.

I just love to see your process Kim. Stage 3 is a painting just the way it is (very abstract expressionism) and I can see it as a huge canvas.

Really like the direction your collages are going and it shows that your enjoying the process.

Hi Kim! Thanks for sharing your collage process; it's fascinating to me to see how other artists work, with such different methods for arriving at their results. Your collage is fabulous! I like the idea of using credit cards to spread paint- finally, something they're actually good for!
I enjoyed your interview, too. I hope you're wearing safety gear to guard against those flying needles! If you like Gillian Welch and the Be Good Tanyas (two of my favorites!) you might want to try the Duhks and Uncle Earl- also quite awesome.

Really enjoyed seeing you make your pieces-the process of your art. I do like the credit card for scraping the paint on too.

Also, nice interview!

Thanks for taking the time to document your process. I really liked seeing it.
The last time I tried to change my blog Google analytics stopped working. I wish I had a "person" to help. My husband can fix almost anything, but he comes to me for help on the computer! Scary,
