Venus and Mars

Venus and Mars, 10.5 x 10.5" © 2010, K. Hambric

The diary entry reads, "Stayed home tonight & ironed." There's Venus, beautifully dressed in her house. There's Mars, on the other side of the moon.

It seems as if this will be the last piece in the Mother series. Not sure where to go from here. I am loaded up with lots of supplies for other such quilts. I am not loaded up with inspiration to continue. It figures.

I'm not sure whether to continue on the same path. I'd love to take some time to explore instead of producing. I'm going to pretend that I have never created anything before -- that I've never heard of being an artist. I'm going to pretend that I have never seen "art" before. But I have the need to create.

-- Where would you suggest I begin.

i feel this inward 'oh :(' when i read this. i love this series...want more more history more mom more man woman stuff. this is really GOOD WORK.
i like your attitude though, pretending you have never created anything. means you are still available to experiment and follow your heart and not your head.

go to art propelled's blog and see her post. and then come back and be you. if all else fails I still think prince what's his name could be an arabian knight waiting to bring cerulean blue inspiration!!

I agree with Paula ... this series is good! However play time is valuable and I suggest playing with fabric shapes and introducing oil pastels ... just for fun. You asked .... :-)

I found your website and blog through your google ad and wanted to let you know how much I enjoy it. I love your post on haggling! For inspiration, I like to put a bunch of fabric in a pile on the table and then walk out of the room and come back in later. Which one catches my eye? Which one to I want to touch and straighten up? Which one seems to have a figure emerging from it? It's fun and often lead to unexpected art. Thanks for your beautiful work.

A friend recommended "the creative habit" by twyla tharp. I wasn't sure if I would like it because I've tried reading inspirational creativity books before and they've never been my cup of tea. But I'm about halfway through it and its a good read. You might enjoy it.
