Keeping Quiet

Well, I wanted to post something. But I feel way too quiet.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed about all of this social media stuff lately. Or, perhaps I should say underwhelmed. Underwhelmed to the point where I don't want to say ANYTHING at this point.

So, I'm blogging to say I don't want to blog right now.

Weird, huh?

As far as that last post goes, I really would like to hear any Wise Women stories you have. Doesn't have to be long. A two word quote from a wise woman you don't even know would be good.

Perhaps I should hold this blog hostage. Yeah, I won't post another thing until I get some wise woman comments.

Otherwise, got nothing to say.

Until maybe tomorrow. I do love a Monday.

I'm with you on the whole social media thing. I think it's a huge time waster that, somehow, makes people feel important.....but only to themselves.

you inspired me to look up wise women quotes and i found this quote: Bite off more than you can chew, then chew it, by Ella Williams

which i take to mean: kim, join twitter

and i'm sorry i disagree a little about the media thing making people feel important (okay many people sure) but i'm doing it and get real interaction out of people i would otherwise never meet. were it not for the blog i wouldn't have sold a chunk of art last year. i'm trying to use twitter etc as a way to market myself AND others AND to have more contact with artists and learn etc. it can waste time but it can also bring the world right to your doorstep. everything in moderation. i dont feel the need to tell people when i did this or that...i'm just trying to share good links to art, documentaries, books or whatever.

I'll cite a whole book. Have you read Women Who Run with the Wolves, by Clarissa Pinkola Estes? The subtitle is: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype. Lots of wise women in this book - I highly recommend it.

Vicki, Yes I think that can happen. I have seen (read) people that say they have hundreds of followers. But are they really connecting? I think cultivating friendships though blogs, twitter, and facebook are important. But I feel you have to care about the communication, not just the number of readers.

Paula, Thanks for the quote. I do want to do more with blogging and facebook at this point. A lot more. Twitter I am putting on hold. For now. Thank you for your constant encouragement, though. If it weren't for social media, I would never have come across you.

Jean, I have been looking for some good reading. I'll look into this book. Thanks for reading my blog!

"Feet on ground, heart in hand, facing forward, be yourself"

These are my wise woman words written by Canadian singer, songwriter (and my friend) Jann Arden. They're from her song Good Mother. I think they say it all.
